Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
1. What should I wear?
Optimal is loose, comfortable clothing that allows easy access to the areas needing treatment. Cloth gowns are available.
2. Who will treat me?
A staff of licensed, experienced physical therapists and physical therapist assistants, led by Dennis Silverbloom, PT, CSCS (certified as a strength and conditioning specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association) will provide your treatment. We will make every effort to accommodate your preferences, be it for a particular therapist, male or female.
3. Does my insurance cover this?
We participate with most insurance plans including Medicare, workers' compensation and no-fault. Please call us for further information.
4. Do I need a referral?
While we receive many referrals from doctors with whom we maintain close communication, New York state law recently changed to allow physical therapy treatment without a referral. You will still need a referral for Medicare, workers' compensation, no-fault and a few other insurance situations. The law requires a referral if you need more than 10 visits or 30 days, whichever comes first. If that is the case and you do not have a physician to contact, we would be happy to make a recommendation.
5. How long will I need physical therapy?
You may need one visit or you may need several months of treatment depending on your condition. Your physical therapist and your doctor will help you determine this.
